Liverpool powers back to the top of the heap

Tottenham was beaten for the first time at its new stadium as Michail Antonio fired West Ham to a surprise 1-0 victory over its London rival on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side had won all four matches at its new £1 billion Tottenham Hotspur stadium.

But Antonio’s clinical second half strike ended that run as the West Ham winger became the first visiting player to score in the plush arena.

Third placed Tottenham’s second defeat in its last three Premier League games put a dent in its bid to finish in the top four.

It holds a three-point lead over fourth placed Chelsea and is four points ahead of fifth placed Arsenal, with both teams in action on Sunday.

It was a frustrating warm-up for Tottenham’s Champions League semifinal first leg against Ajax in north London on Tuesday.

Gone in 15 seconds

Liverpool powered back to the top of the Premier League as Naby Keita’s goal after just 15 seconds inspired a 5-0 rout of Huddersfield on Friday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side struck three times in the first half at Anfield, with Keita bagging Liverpool’s fastest ever Premier League goal before Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah also got on the scoresheet.

Mane and Salah netted again in the second half to move the Reds two points clear of second placed Manchester City, which will regain pole position if it wins at Burnley on Sunday.

The lead at the top of the table has now changed hands for a record 29th time as this memorable season heads for a thrilling conclusion.
