Police stns to have 2 days for complainants

Noida: After failure of “samadhan diwas”, Noida police are taking up a similar initiative called “vadi diwas” or complainant’s day to hear out grievances of residents at police stations on Wednesdays and Fridays in the city and rural areas, respectively.
Gautam Budh Nagar police has decided that from 12 pm to 2pm on Wednesdays and Fridays, complaints would be heard, especially those pertaining to serious incidents.
According to Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Vaibhav Krishna, “vadi diwas” will help track progress of cases and ensure speedy disposal.
“Investigating officers of pending cases will be present on the days. The responsibility to ensure the presence of the investigating officers will lie solely with the station house officers or the station officers,” Krishna said.
On Friday evening, the media cell of Gautam Budh Nagar police published a schedule of “vadi diwas” starting from April 29 at Kasna police station.
While the concept of “thana samadhan diwas” has been running across the state, in Gautam Buddha Nagar, the day has been hardly been fruitful for complainants as the district has not been able to ensure observance of the thana samadhan diwas held on every first and third Saturday in each district.

In Sector 20 police station, a board mentioning about the samadhan diwas (resolution day) is lying abandoned.
“It is a good step, only if it works,” a police officer said.
