Cheetahs claim SA PRO14 bragging rights with 9-try romp over Kings

Cape Town - The Cheetahs have claimed South African bragging rights in the PRO14 by downing the Southern Kings 61-25 in Bloemfontein.

The home side led 28-13 at half-time thanks to tries from Abongile Nonkontwana, Walt Steenkamp, Joseph Dweba and Shaun Venter with flyhalf Tian Schoeman converting them all.

The Kings scored through Harlon Klaasen with Masixole Banda adding a conversions and two penalties.

The Cheetahs extended their dominance in the second half with tries for Louis Fouche, Benhard Janse van Rensburg, a second for Venter, Malcolm Jaer and debutant Boan Venter with Schoeman adding a further four conversions.

Bjorn Basson scored the Kings' lone try in the second half which was converted by Banda.

Neither the Cheetahs or Kings are involved with the knock-out section of the PRO14 which starts in May.
