While it is spectacular that Gomathi Marimuthu, who hails from an economically backward family has won gold in the Asian Athletics Championship at Doha, it is strange that none of the tall political leaders has applauded the girl. Has the heat of electioneering got to them? Such touches do matter a great deal especially when an individual’s efforts have brought glory.
