'Extremely grateful': David Warner pays tribute to his wife and their daughters as they visit him in India... a year after Candice's miscarriage in the wake of the ball tampering scandal

Cricketer David Warner has paid tribute to his family after they visited him in India, after a scandalous and trying 12 months.

Sharing a series of family photos to Instagram on Saturday, the 32-year-old said he was 'extremely grateful' to have them by his side.

Warner, who is playing in the Indian Premier League for Sunrisers Hyderabad, was visited by his wife Candice and two daughters.

Their visit comes just over a year after Warner, along with former Australian cricket captain Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft, were banned from the sport for rubbing the ball with sandpaper during a Test against South Africa.

It's been an eventful year, with Candice revealing she suffered a miscarriage in the aftermath of her husband's ban, which prompted fury across Australia.

The photos saw David, Candice, their daughters Ivy Mae, four, and Indie Rae, three, along with Candice's mother Kerry Falzon, enjoying the sights in India.

David's 12-month ban has since ended and he has been selected for Australia's preliminary squad for this year's world cup.

The sportsman thanked his loved ones for their support in the post's caption: 'Extremely grateful my family got to come enjoy incredible India again with me.

David added that the next time they visit India, there will be 'three little Warner kids', with the couple set to welcome their third child in June.

Last May, Candice revealed she suffered a miscarriage in the aftermath of her husband's part in the ball-tampering scandal.

David was banned for 12 months by Cricket Australia for masterminding a plot to change the condition of the ball during the third Test in Cape Town in March 2018.

Smith was also banned for a year and Bancroft was sidelined for nine months.

Speaking to the Australian Women's Weekly at the time, Candice, 34, said they lost their unborn baby just a week after David addressed the scandal at a press conference in March.

'I was bleeding. We knew I was miscarrying. We held one another and cried,' she said. 'The miscarriage was a tragic consequence, a heartbreaking end to a horror tour.'

Candice believes her distress at the time could have caused the tragic loss: 'The ordeal from the public humiliations to the ball tampering had taken its toll and, from that moment, we decided no sport, nothing will impact our lives like that again.'
