Farmer robbed of Rs 6L on highway

Palanpur: Five unidentified men robbed a farmer of Rs 6 lakh near Chappi on Ahmedabad-Palanpur highway on Friday. The incident happened early in the morning when the five persons, with covered faces, waylaid the jeep in which the farmer was returning home with a friend and driver Sartaji Thakor after selling 80 bags of cumin belonging to him and some other farmers too.
The goons, armed with knives, pulled the three men out of the vehicle and beat them up before taking away Rs 6 lakh and feeling the spot in a car which they parked on the roadside.

According to police, farmer Navinbhai Chaudhary who belongs to Rampur village had come to Unjha on Thursday and stayed there for the night after selling his produce.
The police have registered a complaint under section 397 of IPC and GP Act 135 and are hunting to trace the miscreants.
