Man held for rape, blackmail of minor

ALLAHABAD: A man was arrested from Lotus Tri-section in Jhunsi on Thursday for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl a year ago and blackmailing her ever since with a video of the act.
Shailesh Kumar Giri (31), police said, was coaxing the minor girl to marry him and threatened to make the video public if she refused.
Jhunsi SHO Diwakar Singh said the teenage student was a native of Nawabganj and had been admitted to a private nursing home in the city two years ago. "Giri worked in the same nursing home and befriended her. After he gained her confidence over months, he took her to his residence one day, drugged her and raped her. He recorded the act and has been blackmailing her since. He wants to marry her despite already being married," the SHO said.
The girl confided in her family members who lodged a complaint on Wednesday. An FIR was registered against Giri under several sections of the IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act.
"On Thursday, we laid a trap. We asked the girl to call Giri to Lotus Tri-section on some pretext and we nabbed him when he got there," the SHO said.
