RPF seizes fake Rail Neer bottles

Nagpur: More than 150 fake Rail Neer water bottles were seized the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Thursday.
Nagpur Central Railway senior divisional security commissioner (SrDSC) Bhavani Shankar Nath said, “We have formed two teams for Itarsi and Mumbai ends, which will also track vendors selling water bottles illegally to passengers.”
On Thursday at 11.30am, a team led by PSI GS Yedle noticed an ice-filled drum hidden in the bushes on the outer area of the railway station. The staff found Rail Neer water bottles in it. Over 50 empty bottles and 100 caps were also seized from the spot.

“Many passengers either throw bottles on the tracks or leave them in trains without crushing them. These bottles are collected by illegal vendors and sold to passengers by filling contaminated water,” said Basant Kumar Shukla, general secretary, Bharatiya Yatri Kendra (BYK).
The South East Central Railway (SECR) has also geared up to ensure that passengers get packaged water bottles at competitive prices. Going out of the way, some stations where there are catering stalls, have also been allowed to sell other brands of water bottles.
