2020 McLaren Grand Tourer Caught Wearing Even Tighter Camo

Following a teaser in Geneva last month and then the reveal of a more exposed prototype a few weeks back, we’ve now been given yet another look at McLaren’s upcoming new Grand Tourer, seen here wearing really tight, silhouette-revealing camouflage.

We still don’t know what McLaren is going to call this new model, but we can expect the first customer cars to arrive this autumn, after an official unveiling next month, as reported by Autocar.

Sleeker than your average McLaren

The more we look at this prototype’s exterior, the cleaner it seems, even compared to a 570GT, which has more aggressive-looking spoilers, a more intricate door design and beefier rear fenders. This new GT on the other hand is perhaps a little more elegant, if you will – and better suited for long journeys.

“It will be a car that combines competition levels of performance with continent-crossing capability, wrapped in a beautiful lightweight body. It’s a car that has been designed for distance and one that will also provide the comfort and space expected of a grand tourer,” stated McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt. “But it will also have a level of agility never experienced before in this segment. In addition, it will be the lightest of grand tourers and, by also having the best power-to-weight ratio, I promise it will be one of the quickest.”

What this means is that it will also feature a more comfortable cabin compared to existing Sport Series or Super Series models, although it won’t be a four-seater, obviously.

“Spacious, uncluttered and modern with only authentic, high-quality materials employed,” is how its interior has been described.

How much power are we talking?

Unclear, as of right now. However, we expect it to use the British automaker’s 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, albeit with more muscle than the 562 HP (570 PS) and 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) of torque mustered in the 570GT. So perhaps 600 + horses would be a good bet.

If reports prove accurate, we won’t have to wait much longer until McLaren ditches the camouflage for their new GT, while also releasing some performance specs.
