New Delhi, Indian star shuttler Saina Nehwal and unseeded Sameer Verma bowed out of their respective singles matches after losing against their opponents in the quarter-final matches of the Asia Badminton Championships in Wuhan, China on Friday.
Seventh seed Saina’s old rival and third seed Akane Yamaguchi of Japan defeated the Indian 21-13, 21-23, 21-16 to reach the semi-final.
Saina lost her first game, but bounced back winning the second however in the decider the Japanese player snatched victory.
Sameer Verma was edged out by China’s Shi Yuqi 21-10, 21-12 within a time span of 36 minutes in the men’s singles quarter-final.
