Pay-and-use toilet sought atThiruvanmiyur bus terminus

It’s a long-standing issue, one that affects even the MTC staff working at the facility

Commuters boarding buses at the Thiruvanmiyur bus terminus on Thiruvalluvar Salai have requested Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) authorities that a proper pay-and-use washroom be established at the premises.

For want of a proper toilet, the staff stationed at the terminus and the bus crew relieve in the open, particularly on the walls of the terminal, thereby creating an unwholesome atmosphere. While passing by the terminus, on the way to East Coast Road (ECR), one is greeted by a foul smell, says P. Sadasivam, a pedestrian. Visitors to refreshment stalls located opposite the terminus have the same complaint to make.

As it connects to ECR, Thiruvalluvar Salai is a busy stretch and many. It is accessed by many of those visiting the Thiruvanmiyur Vegetables and Fruits Market on ECR.When contacted, an MTC official promised to attend to the complaint after the Lok Sabha elections.
