IMD issues high alert, cyclone Fani to hit Andhra, Tamil Nadu coasts by April 30

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued high alert warnings to Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh as cyclone Fani is likely to hit the coasts on April 30. Both state coasts will witness rainfall activity associated with squally winds, April 28 onwards. Low pressure over the Bay of Bengal is expected to grow into a cyclonic storm, IMD has named it ‘Fani’. South Coastal region of Andhra Pradesh is expected to witness wind speeds of up to 90-110 kmph by April 29.
