Commuters at the Fortis Malar Hospital bus stop (towards Light House) on Durgabai Deshmukh Road have asked the Metropolitan Transport Corporation to direct the crew members of route numbers 6 and 6D (which ply from Thiruvanmiyur bus terminus to George Town and Toll Gate) to halt at the stopover.
Earlier, drivers of the route numbers would halt inside the bus bay. And then, they started halting near the exit point of the bus bay. And now, they are giving a wide berth to the stopover, and simply driving on, allege commuters.
With drivers skipping the halting point, these commuters board these route numbers either at the Sathya Studio or Besant Avenue Road halting point. As both these halting points are a good distance away from the Fortis Malar Hospital bus stop, the walk to any of these two stopovers adds to their commute time.
Some commuters stay on, and standing near the exit point of the bus bay at the Fortis Malar Hospital stopover, they signal to the drivers to halt.
A. Subramanian, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, says, “Aboard the bus, we have to request the conductors and drivers to halt at the stopover.”
