While communicating with the travel agents sent out on Wednesday, the state-owned airline explained that in view of disruptions at Colombo, AI 275/276 Mumbai-Colombo Mumbai flight “stands cancelled” between May 1st and May 31st. More than 350 people of different nationalities, including Indians, lost their lives in the blasts.

The daily connection of the airline between Delhi and Colombo continues to remain functional and on Thursday it was about 90 minutes late in leaving Delhi.

Sources in SpiceJet mentioned that they will carry on operating their flights from Madurai and Chennai to Colombo adding that passenger load on these flights was doing okay. They however refused to say how many passengers were travelling to Colombo.

In the meantime, Indian carriers flying to Colombo have suggested their passengers to report four hours early for check in. Also, they have advised passengers that all vehicles going inside the airport in Colombo will be checked in front of the cargo terminal and that at the outer lane, all passenger vehicles will be stopped. The passengers will have to walk to the entrance to the terminal as no vehicles will be permitted to the terminal. Also, passengers have been informed that the Air Force will do a positive manual check of all departing passenger luggage at the check point before the entrance. The Colombo airport has also closed down its terminal car and coach park.
