Gurgaon: The
MCG has issued orders against banners, stickers or bills, and
hoardings placed by political parties and establishments such as private firms, individuals, religious bodies, and voluntary organisations in the city.
Sources said MCG’s inspection
teams have found several political banners and
posters across the city despite the district administration’s direction to put them up only in some specific locations.
The order has been issued under clause 3-A (1) of Haryana Prevention of
Defacement of Property Act, 1989. “The Act states that anyone who defaces any property in public view, except any board or wall provided for advertisement and publicity, shall be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fines which may extend to Rs 10,000 or with both,” said MCG commissioner Yashpal Yadav.
He added that four teams have been deployed to check defacement of public property and fine violators in the four zones of the city. Shri Rajeev Yadav, assistant engineer (advt) is the nodal officer for this work. The teams have been given daily targets viz challaning at least two violators in a day, which means a minimum of 48 challans will be issued in a week.
The teams are also supposed to find out about the printing press which printed the banners/posters from the violator and take action. A letter will also be sent to the Gurgaon deputy commissioner for cancellation of licence of the printing press concerned.
