Man dead, another injured, in two stabbings across Melbourne

A man has been killed and another injured after two separate stabbing attacks across Melbourne on Friday night.

One man died after being stabbed about 8pm at Fawkner Park in South Yarra, in Melbourne's inner-south.

Attempts to revive the man, who has not been identified, were unsuccessful.

Police are yet to determine the circumstances leading to the man's death.

Fawkner Park, which spans between Commercial Road and Toorak Road, is popular among families and local sporting clubs.

In a separate attack in in Melbourne's north, a man was stabbed about 7pm at Romsey Street, Reservoir.

Police said an unknown man wearing dark clothing immediately fled the scene.

The victim, who is also yet to be formally identified, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He is now in a stable condition.
