There were around 566,687 overnight stays recorded at the Easter holiday period in Croatia.
This Easter long weekend experienced 80% more arrivals in Croatia and 90% more overnight stays than last year. Visitors from Germany recorded the maximum overnight stays (124,229), followed by guests from Italy (58,205), Austria (48,975) and Slovenia (33,136).
“This year’s extended Easter weekend fell later which helped boost tourist traffic we expected at the end of April. Due to the quality, content and diverse destination offerings that attract guests to Croatia, and also the 1st of May holiday next week, we expect additional guest retention in our country and the growth trend of tourist traffic to continue,” HTZ director Kristjan Staničić said.
Over Easter, majority of overnight stays were recorded in Istria (196,000), which was 35% of the total overnight stays. Next were Kvarner, Dalmatia and Dubrovnik.
During Easter, Dubrovnik was the most visited destination (53,978 overnights), followed by Poreč (34,155), Rovinj (33,499), Zagreb (27,276) and Split (23,361).
At hotels, an overall of 288,810 overnight stays were recorded, which was 51% of the total. Private accommodation was next with 115,000 recorded overnight stays, with camp sites recording 89,000 overnight stays.
