More and More Employees are 'Ghosting' Job Offers

((VO-Job Offers))??Job offers...they used to be these highly coveted things that people used to take super seriously!????((VO-Young Adults))??Well…it turns out Generation Z...doesn’t think so, sort of.????((VO))??A new study by recruitment firm Ranstad (RON-STAHD) says 66 percent of people 22 and younger are “ghosting” job offers.????((VO-Dating))??Yes that’s right, ghosting doesn’t only happen in the dating world!????((VO-Young Employees))??The study notes that U.S. employers are basically getting left out to dry by candidates who they offer a job.

Candidates are disappearing prior to their start date!????((VO-Waiting by phone))??Man, it’s funny how times have changed!

I remember when folks used to sit by their phones and emails waiting for an employer to call or send a note!????((VO-Employees))??Experts looked at more than 1200 U.S. managers and employees and found that the older the person...the less likely they are to bail on a job offer.

For example - only 26 percent of millennials ages 23 through 38 ghosted on a new job and only 13 percent of baby boomers.????((VO-Entreprenuers))??But hey, maybe this is a good thing, according to Silicon Republic, generation Z and Millennials are leading the charge on taking on entrepreneurial ventures more than any other generation.????((VO-Meeting with Boss))??And nothing is wrong with working for yourself!

But maybe if you are offered a 9 to 5... just let the employer know you have other plans, out of common courtesy!??
