When director Omkar Shetty was working on his bilingual film, Aaron, he had a gut feeling that it would fare well. However, he was caught by surprise when the Government of Maharashtra selected his film to be sent to the Festival de Cannes (Cannes Film Festival) in France to be held from May 14 to March 24.

Sharing details about the same, the director shared, “As a film-maker, you have to apply for the selection, like you do for state and national awards. I was aware of it since they started the process in 2016. I decided to take my chances and applied for the same, two months ago. The golden call came last week, and last Monday was when it was revealed that Aaron will be sent to Cannes.”

Omkar is grateful to the state for selecting his film and adds the script and treatment of the film made it happen. “While making the film I was expecting it to do well and be accepted at film festivals. However, we all dream and don’t expect it to come true. But this time, it did come true (smiles). It is a full circle for us, we shot the film in France and now we are going to a coveted film festival in France for a screening.”

He adds that keeping a single vision and no interference helped make the film better. He gives a shout out to his team back in France and India, who helped bring out the best in him. “It was a one vision product,” he says.

Moving forward, Omkar has begun work on his second Marathi film which is a complete masala entertainer and will go on floors post monsoon. He is also working on a Hindi project.
