DK gears up for smooth conduct of CET examination on April 29, 30

MANGALURU: District administration on Thursday held a preparatory meeting to ensure smooth and successful conduct of common entrance test (CET) examination that will be held for two-days from April 29. In all, 13290 candidates are scheduled to appear for the examination that determines their entry to professional courses. Examinations conducted by KEA will be held in 26 colleges across the district and majority of them are in the city.

At a meeting that R Venkatachalapathy, additional DC chaired, strict instructions were issued to officials that steps should be taken to ensure that there are no problems in conducting the examination and candidates face no inconvenience in appearing for it. Venkatachalapathy directed the tahshildars and heads of the colleges where the CET examination will be held to ensure that basic amenities are operational in the respective centres.

The checklist for heads of institutions of examination centre includes ensuring that wall clock is present in every examination hall. The administration will provide all support to the KEA, he said and all arrangements needed by students to appear for the examination put in place, he assured. The administration and the examination centres will fully comply with directions given by KEA to conduct the examination in a manner specified by it.

Vasudev Kamath, principal, Government PU College, Gurupur, nodal officer for the CET examination said out of 26 CET centres, 13 are in Mangaluru taluk, eight in Moodbidri taluk, three in Puttur taluk and the remaining two in Belthangady taluk. Elvira Philomena, in-charge deputy director, department of PU Education said insistence on wall clocks in examination hall is due to restriction imposed by KEA on candidates in wearing watches.
