Shruti Haasan to play a gangster in action film opposite Vidyut Jammwal

Shruti Haasan, whose last Hindi outing was Behen Hogi Teri with Rajkummar Rao, is all set to return to Hindi cinema with Mahesh Manjrekar’s directorial venture. The film will also star Vidyut Jammwal as the male lead.

Titled Power, the film is said to be a gangster drama where both Shruti and Vidyut will play gangsters, as reported. by Mid Day. Jammwal plays a gangster in the action drama, while Haasan plays his love interest. “But things go wrong in their life. Haasan begins to wield guns as well. While Vidyut is known for his high-octane action scenes, this time, Shruti will be seen in a new avatar and in gangster mode,” producer Vijay Galani told the tabloid.

Mahesh, who has given us a cult film like the Sanjay Dutt starrer Vaastav, directed Me Shivaji Park. He is also often seen in front of the camera - - Bajirao Mastani and Total Dhamaal are a few examples. The upcoming movie, Power, is also reportedly on the lines of Vaastav that got Sanjay his first Filmfare Award.

Shruti was also seen in Shamitabh alongside Dhanush and Amitabh Bachchan. Talking about her carer plans, she had earlier told Hindustan Times, “I never really have a plan about how I want to see my career shaping up. I am usually caught up in the whirlwind and that’s how I get the movies. Behen Hogi Teri was also like that. It was something that I’d never done before, and I really enjoyed doing it. That’s how I’m going to be in the future as well, and I don’t think I can plan about what kind of movies I want to be a part of.” Shruti is also working on her Tamil project, Labham.

Vidyut, meanwhile, was last seen in Junglee. He will soon be working on Commando 3.
