BHAYANDAR: Three people have been arrested in connection with a murderous assault on the 35-year-old manager of a ladies bar in Kashimira during the wee hours on Wednesday. The attack is said to be the fall out of a tiff over a bill amount at the ladies orchestra bar last month.
The incident was reported at around 3.30 am when the manager identified as Suresh Waman Kotian (35) was waiting for an auto-rickshaw at Kashimira junction. The trio mounted a murderous assault on him and fled in their car. A profusely bleeding Kotian who sustained severe head and other injuries was rushed to a private hospital in Mira Road.
Hours after the incident, the police arrested the accused trio who have been identified as Vikas Mahima Shankar Tripathi (32), Vikas Surendra Upadhyay (33) and Satish Vilas Pandey (34) all resident of Palghar district who had allegedly picked up a quarrel with the bar staffers over a bill amount dispute last month.
Despite the severity of the injuries and the brutality of the planned attack, it has been alleged that the assailants were treated with kids gloves by the local police personnel who have slapped mild charges by invoking section including Sections 326, 323, 504 and 506 of the IPC.
However police officials claimed that they had followed due process of law in implying charges. Interestingly the incident the incident occurred just a stones throw away from the local police station, exposing the lawlessness prevailing in the region, even as Lok Sabha elections are just round the corner. –
