Govt officials directed to ensure smooth conduct of Lairai jatrotsav

For the smooth conduct of jatrotsav of Goddess Devi Shree Lairai at Shirgao-Bicholim scheduled on May 9, the mamlatdar of Bicholim taluka Pravinjay Pandit, who is also the administrator of temples, at a meeting on Thursday directed various government departments to put in place necessary measures.

The meeting held in the hall of Shri Devi Lairai Devasthan, Shirgao was attended by the temple committee members, local sarpanch, PSI of Bicholim police station Vishal Mandrekar, fire officer Shripad Gawas, representatives of electricity department, tourism department, health department, mining companies, traffic assistant sub-inspector and others.

The mamlatdar directed the traffic police inspector to provide route plan for the jatrotsav and the electricity department to illuminate the said site and take necessary repair work of the highmast. The PWD department was directed to take necessary repair work of the roads. Traffic police officials were directed to provide barricades near Homekhand site to avoid hardships to devotees.

Further the mamlatdar also directed the local panchayat and temple committee to take measures to set up stalls only on one side of the road and not to give permission for stalls near the Homekhand site.

Health officers were directed to deploy health personnel while the fire officer was directed to deploy workers along with a fire tender during the jatra festivities. Police sub-inspector was directed to deploy police personnel during the jatra festivities and the mining companies were also directed to render necessary assistance for the smooth conduct of the jatrotsav.
