CHANDIGARH: A parent has alleged his child was beaten up by a teacher of a private school in Sector 40 on April 22 in a complaint he filed with Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) and the education department,
The commission on Wednesday issued summons to the school authorities to appear before it on Thursday.
The parent alleged the teacher slapped the child because he did not help another in memorising 'ardas'. The parent alleged the child was humiliated, and other students were asked not to speak with him. In the complaint, the parent told the commission and department officials that the school has CCTV cameras and footage be sought before it's lost. Talking to TOI, the parents said, "My child is in Class V. Some other child was asked to recite the ardas, but when he could not recite it, my child was beaten up saying why did he not help the child memorise the ardas."

School refused footage: Parent
The parent said he had lodged a complaint and asked for CCTV footage but was refused. Parent alleged similar instances of punishment have been happening in the past but he ignored them. “This time the child started crying the moment he saw me and narrated the incident. I asked the school to show the footage but they refused to do so saying they will first inquire themselves. I then submitted a plaint.”
