NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that Class 12 students who answered the 'tricky' six marks linear equation question in the annual board examination 2019 correctly using right methods will be given full marks.
As per CBSE Board, there was a six marks linear equation question in the Class 12 Maths paper this year which could be perceived in two different ways, leading to two different answers.
According to Anurag Tripathi, secretary, CBSE, the Board will consider both the methods for solving the linear equation as correct. However, only those students who have attempted or completed the question will be accorded marks.
“All students of the Class XII who appeared for the Mathematics Board exam will not be given marks. There was an issue with one question. The Board has decided that since there are two methods for solving the question, both will be taken as correct answers. Those students who solved the equation using either of the methods will be accorded full marks. Who have attempted and completed certain steps, marks will be given step wise. But no marks to be given to students who have not attempted the question,” he added.
