Gurgaon: More than 60 cases of
insurance fraud related to
cancer patients have been reported from across the state, so far. Meanwhile, police interrogation has revealed the role of another fraudster and cops are looking for him.
Earlier, Haryana Special Task Force (
STF) busted a fake insurance racket in which the accused would contact terminal cancer patients and get them insured. After their deaths, the accused would present it as “death in a road accident” and claim the insurance money.
As many as six people have been arrested for their involvement in the racket, so far. “We are trying to nab another prime suspect, identified as Kadam Kharab, who is absconding,” said Shamsher Singh, the DSP of
Haryana crime branch. On the other hand, STF has received complaints against two other insurance companies and are looking into the same. Though STF is not revealing investigation details, sources claimed that over a dozen doctors had come under its scanner. A senior police officer said that out of six special teams formed to investigate the scam, four were conducting raids to nab the accused, including doctors, hospital staff and policemen, in Hisar, Rohtak, Sonipat and Jhajjar. Related complaints have been retrieved from police stations of all four districts.
