Judge gives maximum sentence to final man convicted in murder of 5-year-old Beloit boy

Former guard members.

After more than three years... those impacted by the 2016 murder of a five year old rock county boy finally have closure.... as the last person responsible for the shooting of austin ramos jr... recieved his sentence earlier today... rock county reporter adam duxter joins us from our bureau at the janesville gazette with why today's sentencing means so much to so many... most have a hard time believing that it was more than three years ago... we first learned of the tragedy involving 5 year old austin ramos jr. today's sentencing... a final chapter for so many involved.

Nat 2200 i hope one day, mr. martinez can plea with god and ask for forgiveness for all the wrong choices he has made in life.

Members of austin ramos jrs family asked not to be on camera...but had words for hugo martinez in court today... 9218 our family will never be the same, and we will never get to hear his voice..

Martinez..given the maximum punishment.

With it... three years of uncertainty..

Come to an end.

Pivotal for parents... and prosecutors.

((( , " "))) 16 31 35 this has been a long process..

This has been three years in the making, a lot of hard work.

Assitant district attonrey mason braunschweig has handled proescution of sergio raygoza ortiz... eric salazar mota... isaac torres... and today... hugo martinez... the four men responsible for the january 2016 shooting death of austin ramos jr..

A case... he took on voluntarily.

((( , " "))) 16 32 45 when i heard this matter occurred, i had a five year old child at the time..

It kind of hit home.

He says today's max sentence... a win for the justice system.

For beloit police... a reminder of how far things have come, ((( , " "))) 16 39 12 at the time, i was the interim chief, still living in deforest.

Chief david zibolski says the shooting came at a time of disorder and distrust of the department.

This case... changed everything... ((( , " "))) 16 44 04 it's a whole different level of approach i think when it comes to sense of urgency.

Hugo martinez will spend the next 15 years in prison... and the following ten in supervision.

While family tries to move on... braunscweig says... a case like this changes everything.

((( , " "))) the families will at least have a spot to sort of moving forward in their lives, but they'll never be the same.

Austin ramos jr.s family said in court today they've established a scholarship in his name.... and that even though the proescution is over... they'll never forget what made him so special.... thanks
