Firefighters helped rescue the occupant of a home left badly damaged by a house blaze.

Crews were called to Ceiri Terrace in Llanaelhaearn, Gwynedd , last night after cooking left unattended caught fire.

Two engines from Pwllheli attended the scene and helped lead the occupant of the house from the burning building.

A spokesman for the fire service said paramedics checked them over at the scene but they did not require hospital treatment.

The blaze caused significant damage to the property, however.

The spokesman said: "We were called at 9.10pm last night and one person was led out to safety by the fire service.

"There was fire damage to the cooker only, and smoke damage to the entire property."
