Five arrested for dreaded goon’s murder

Nagpur: Barely 24 hours after a dreaded goon was murdered at the busy Baidyanath Square on Wednesday night, Imambada police swung into action and arrested five persons, including the brother of the deceased’s sister-in-law on Thursday.
The five accused have been identified as Nilesh Meshram, 22, Sunny Bagde, 23, Uddesh Meshram, 23, Adarsh alias Action Jaronde, 20 and Ritik alias Kalya Khobragade, 19.
Badal Gajbiye, 29, was attacked by a group of masked men who threw red chilli powder into his eyes before killing him with sword and stones.
The deceased, who had eight offences registered against him, including attempt to murder and kidnapping, was murdered when he was returning home with his friend Sunny Malkham after eating pain puri.
Soon police rushed to the spot and registered and offence of murder.
During investigation, cops were probing Badal’s old disputes. His father too was murdered in 2017.
Investigations revealed that Badal was not on good terms with his family members.
During a press conference on Thursday, DCP Raj Tilak Roushan said, “Badal’s brother Akash had a love marriage with Nilesh’s sister and the deceased was upset about it. Badal regularly used to harass Akash’s wife. Badal’s behaviour annoyed Nilesh to a great extent and so, he planned to eliminate him the help of his friend Sunny.
Senior PI of Immambada police station MM Salunkhe was also preset at the press conference.
It is learnt that Badal used to treat his sister-in-law inhumanly and on April 10, he even thrashed Nilesh’s mother over some issue.
On the fateful day, Nilesh and Sunny teamed up. They were helped by Uddesh and Adarsh. All the accused live in the same area. After the April 10 incident, Badal and Nilesh also got into a fight but the issue was brought under control after the intervention of family members.
On Wednesday night, Ritik saw Badal eating pain puri and informed Nilesh, who along with the others, rushed to their respective homes and returned with sharp weapons.
The accused then attacked Badal and fled the spot. Two of the five accused hid in the area full of trees near Sitabuldi while the rest were nabbed from different places.
It is also learnt that CCTV footages at the spot helped the police to identify the accused. They will be produced before the court on Friday.
