The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will begin releasing 24 different pamphlets appealing to specific groups, including women, students and auto-rickshaw drivers, from April 27 as part of their Lok Sabha election campaign.
The party’s Delhi manifesto will be released on Thursday afternoon by AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. The even will be attended by the party’s Lok Sabha election candidates and other senior leaders. The focus will be on full statehood and its benefits, the party said.
The pamphlets are part of AAP’s third phase of campaigning and contain details of benefits each group has received because of the AAP government. The pamphlets will also carry information on what more the government could achieve if Delhi gets full statehood.
Third phase
Apart from the pamphlets, AAP has set up 24 frontal organisations for the specific groups. “The first phase of the campaign was general... in the second phase we reached out to 35 lakh voters through door-to-door campaign. The third phase will focus on different groups as the issues also vary with groups,” a senior party leader said.
A meeting of all MLAs, district heads, and the seven Lok sabha candidates will be held on Thursday evening at Mr. Kejriwal’s residence to decide the strategy for the third stage of the campaigning.
“We will review the second phase of the campaign and also look into the candidates from other parties to decide what should be the next phase,” the leader said.
He said that AAP needs about “3%-4% more votes to win the election” and they hope to do it with the third phase of their campaign.
He added that the party’s focus will be on ‘bijli (electricity), paani (water), siksha (education), swastya (health), and pension’.
AAP is set to also release seven constituency-wise manifestos from May 1.
