Chernobyl is considered to be the world’s worst industrial nuclear disasters. The incident happened on the night of 25-26 April 1986 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, during a late night safety test. The Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant was located near the town of Pripyat in Ukraine. There were 2 heavy explosions which irradiated the surroundings. It is believed that the amount of radioactive material dispersed in the environment during the accident was equal to that of a nuclear bomb. These radioactive materials dispersed into neighbouring Soviet Union and other European nations, resulting in massive loss of life.
