Gurgaon: Sitting MP
Rao Inderjit Singh, seeking re-election for the fifth time, said his party has worked for Mewat’s development without any discrimination.
Inderjit Singh was speaking at a BJP
rally at the headquarters of Nuh district, which covers the Muslim-majority
Mewat region on Wednesday.
He also said the
BJP government has included Mewat in the list of backward areas, to accelerate development of the region, adding that Mewat not being among BJP’s priority is a misconception. Instead, he said, policies announced by the Union and state governments in the past five years have kept Mewat’s development at the forefront, appearing to counter the belief that in the absence of a Muslim candidate for the seat, Congress would sweep Muslim votes from the region.
Addressing villagers of the rural district, he said the route of the Rs 90,000 crore Delhi-Mumbai expressway mega project has been approved via Mewat, keeping in mind the development of this backward area.
He added that not only has the BJP government completed the oft-delayed Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway project, but also developed the Nagina-Tijara route, and built a college in Ferozepur-Jhirka.
Lambasting his challengers, he said previous state governments have used Mewat merely as a
vote bank, unlike the BJP, which has worked for the betterment of Mewat’s people.
“The biggest example is that the region’s
youth have got employment in government organisations without needing any recommendations, while previous governments ignored the ability of Mewat’s youth,” he said.
He appealed to the people that they should vote for a strong government and not a “helpless government”. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working for our country’s development, for the betterment of all Indians. The ongoing Lok Sabha elections will decide our country’s fate. Therefore, it’s going to be the most important decision for every Indian,” he added.
He further said BJP has carried out more development works in last five years than what Congress managed to do in 55 years of its rule, adding transparency in recruitment for government
jobs sets the BJP government apart from all others in the past. “South Haryana’s youth used to complain of lack of jobs, not because they didn’t have ability, but because in the past, systemic corruption was deep-rooted,” he said.
