Noida: The Noida Authority will start treating windrows (piled up solid waste) of nearly 50,000 tonnes dumped at the temporary site in Mubarakpur near Noida’s Sector 145 from Wednesday.
The Authority CEO, Alok Tandon, instructed workers that the other temporary dumpsite at Sector 54, which has already treated 50, 000 tonnes of legacy waste, will remediate the remaining 20,000 tonnes before May 31.
“The Noida Authority CEO, Alok Tandon, held a meeting on Tuesday to take stock of solid waste at temporary dump sites near sectors 145 and 54. While it was decided to begin windrow treatment of about 50,000 tonnes of waste at the Mubarakpur site from Wednesday, he also directed that the remaining legacy waste at Sector 54 dumpsite be remediated before May 31,” said Rajesh Kumar Singh, an officer on special duty (OSD) at the Noida Authority.
The Sector 54 dumpsite had about 1.5 lakh tonnes of legacy waste till November 2018. The Authority roped in a Tamil Nadu-based private agency to remediate it.
Tandon made the announcement during a review meeting of the NGO, Adarsh Sewa Samiti, engaged in door-to-door waste collection and segregation and awareness drives and directed officials to expand their scope of work and ensure desired results.
