The South Indian Artistes’ Association (SIAA) or Nadigar Sangam has formed a special committee for the protection of their members.
Announcing the formation officially, the Nadigar Sangam said that they would safeguard and protect the self-esteem of artistes.
A member of the association said the internal committee would take up complaints.
Actors Karthi, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Rohini, Kitty alias Raja Krishnamoorthy, Poochi Murugan, Lalitha Kumari and Krishna Raveendran participated.
In the wake of allegations of harassment against a few members of the Tamil film fraternity last year, Nadigar Sangam had announced that they would be forming a panel for the safety of artists in October 2018.
The association had said that it would take steps to ensure the safety of theatre and cinema artistes as well as prevent gender-based harassment and ensure that they work in a safe environment.
