Three directors of Osmo IT solution, currently in custody over e-tendering scam, may get their statements recorded before a magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC. The trio are reportedly willing to become witness for prosecution, however the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) which is probing the scam, is still to consider their ‘desire’. The three directors -Vinay Chaudhary, Varun Chaturvedi and Sumit Golwalkar, were arrested recently and sent to jail on Monday.
Once their statements are recorded in the court under section 164, the accused directors would not be in position to backtrack. During the intensive interrogation, the trio had disclosed many facts. N K. Brahme, the OSD of the Madhya Pradesh State Electronics Development Corporation (MPSEDC) too has been arrested by the EOW. The directors reportedly admitted to have connived with the IAS officers and other officials of the concerned departments and managed get access to their digital signatures.
Brahme, initially, denied the charges however when the probe agency confronted him with directors of the company, he admitted that the IAS officers were involved in the scam and that he was in possession of their digital signatures. According to sources, the probe agency has also discovered that besides the IAS officers, scores of politicians were also involved in the scam. The IAS officers may soon be in deep trouble, said sources.
Initially, the three company directors were initially not cooperating with the EOW sleuths, however after the thorough grilling, they began to spill the beans. They have also agreed to get their statements recorded before a magistrate under section 164. Sources said that the three have expressed their desire to become witnesses for the prosecution, however, the EOW is still to take call on it.
After surfacing of the names of the IAS officers in connection with the massive scam, the EOW verified their involvement by retrieving their call details. These officers, apparently, got the rates quoted in the tenders changed after submission of the tenders.
