Biker’s death result of robbery bid

Investigation revealed that the death of a lab technician, K. Baskaran, 55, who sustained bleeding injuries after falling from a motorbike near Tirunagar in the early hours of Tuesday, was the result of an attempt to rob him.

The police said that the deceased was working in a scan centre at Anna Nagar had was returning home on his motorbike at around 1.30 a.m.

He hit a boulder on GST Road in Tirunagar and sustained head injuries. He was rushed to Government Rajaji Hospital, where he succumbed to injuries later.

When the police investigated the case, they found that his mobile phone and a bag were missing from the scene.

Investigation revealed that the man had hit the boulder that had been placed on the road with an intention to rob him. The police are on the lookout for the accused.

In an unrelated incident, L. Stephy Graf, 26, of Tahsildar Nagar was robbed of ₹10,000 and mobile phones by three persons riding a motorbike at K.K. Nagar on Sunday night.

The police said that the victim was riding a bike along with her friend when the accused followed them on another bike and pulled her bag that also contained ATM cards, Adhar cards, driving licence and Pan Card.
