KSRTC crew come to the rescue of passenger

Thiruvananthapuram: At a time when trolls on social media mocked the recent assault of passengers by the staff of Suresh Kallada travels, a KSRTC bus crew earned praise for their heart-warming gesture. A man who fainted inside a KSRTC bus was taken to a hospital in the same bus despite a traffic jam on Wednesday.
The incident occurred in the morning on a KSRTC bus which was heading towards Thiruvananthapuram from Kottarakkara. When the bus reached Venjaramoodu, one of the busiest stretches in the capital at 9am, it got stuck in traffic for nearly 20 minutes. By the time, a passenger named Unnikrishnan (45), hailing from Ayoor, felt uneasy. He started sweating profusely and fell unconscious.
However, bus driver Ajikumar from Kallara and conductor J Anuroop from Nagaroor (attached to Kilimanoor depot) spared no time in deciding what to do as every passing second was crucial.
What is even more impressive is the fact that the way they convinced other passengers and helped them board other buses without delay despite the long two-lane traffic jam. With the cooperation of two passengers, Unnikrishnan was taken to the nearby private hospital in the same bus. Their gesture and the attitude of other passengers won many hearts.

According to the conductor, the passenger boarded the bus from Kottarakkara at 7am and took a ticket to Thiruvananthapuram. He is employed as a driver at a private firm in Thiruvananthapuram. “I was distributing tickets when I saw a crowd in the front, including ladies, screaming for help. When I went near them, a man was shivering and sweating and in a few minutes, he fainted. Though some passengers gave him CPR three times, he was unconscious. Without wasting much time, we contacted the unit officer of nearby depot and he gave us permission to take the man to a hospital. We had two problems, one was the slow traffic and the 90 passengers inside the bus,” said Anuroop.
Within five minutes, KSRTC unit officer Shiju BS of Venjaramoodu depot cleared the traffic jam by coordinating with Venjaramoodu police station personnel. “The entire 90 passengers cooperated with us and boarded other KSRTC buses going in the same direction. Two passengers stood back and helped us,” he added.
