Municipal Commissioner M. Rama Rao has suspended Assistant Engineer (Water Supply) Sk. Insar Ahmed on the charge of negligence in ensuring safe drinking water to households in Bhavanipuram.
When Mr. Rama Rao was inspecting Bhavanipuram area as part of his daily routine, locals of Bhavani Hospital Road complained that polluted drinking water was being supplied to them and the problem was not solved even after lodging several complaints.
Mr. Rama Rao immediately sought an explanation from the officials concerned and was told that there was a problem at the water pumping section.
Later, Mr. Rama Rao issued suspension orders to the engineering official concerned, Sk. Insar, for failing to solve the problem.
He asked other engineering officials to immediately address the problem raised by locals. Mr. Rama Rao also inspected the works of 5MGD intake well at the Vidyadharapuram head water works project. He also asked sanitation wing officials to ensure that silt was removed from drains across the city.
