Shocking images of an alleged shoplifter being pulled to the ground and placed in a headlock by Woolworths staff have emerged.
Shoppers at the Big Top Shopping Centre in Maroochydore, on the Sunshine Coast were stunned when they saw four people holding down the young man last Thursday night.
Staff and security had launched into action when the 20-year-old man had allegedly stolen food, milk and tobacco before fleeing out the door.

Footage, captured by onlookers shows the man flailing on the ground as staff attempt to restrain him.
A former employee who witnessed the incident told The Courier Mail they were shocked as staff were not supposed to intervene.
The witness said they began yelling for staff to get their hands off of the man.
Police were called to the scene and the man was charged with stealing.
He is expected to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court on May 8.
A Woolworths spokeswoman said police were called to respond to abusive behaviour by an individual who was threatening the safety of their customers and staff.
'We're reviewing the incident with our team members and are assisting police in their investigation.
'We're providing support to impacted team members on duty at the time.'
