1 killed in W.B. during clash outside booth

One person was killed and a few injured in the third phase of polling when five constituencies of central and north Bengal voted on Tuesday.

Till 5 p.m., 78.97% of about 80 lakh voters exercised their franchise. The number of incidents of alleged rigging or booth capturing were considerably less compared to the last two phases. Meanwhile, TMC chief Mamata Banarjee has alleged that the Central Armed Police Force personnel are “influencing” voters to vote for the BJP.

Tiarul Sheikh was killed when clashes broke out outside booth number 188 in Bhagawangola block in Murshidabad. His son Mahtab Sheikh alleged that Tiarul was attacked with a machete by two men.
