NEW DELHI: In 2018, India happily lost the distinction of being the country with the largest number of poor. The number of people living in extreme poverty (less than $1.9 a day) has been falling fast. United Nation’s goal to eliminate poverty by 2030 includes not just ending income poverty but providing four other basic amenities that ensure minimum economic security. Here’s a status on our war on poverty.

FOUR FACES OF POVERTY
Households with a member covered by any health scheme of health insurance.

Eligible population receiving social benefits under maternity benefits.

Employment rate under MGNREGA.

Homeless households
Currently, the number of homeless households per 10,000 households stands at 10.39. The target is to bring it to zero.
