Woman was strangled to death with a shower hose 'in sex game gone wrong' with army officer on the Canary Islands
- Lorena Mazzeo, 34, was found dead in an apartment in Gran Canaria in 2016
- Army Officer Felix Daza Cabeza, 30, is accused of strangling her in the bath
- Lawyers say he killed her after she mocked him and want him jailed for 21 years
- But Cabeza claims innocence, saying she died during a sex game gone wrong
A Spanish army officer accused of murdering a woman because she mocked him claims she actually died during a sex game gone wrong.
Felix Daza Cabeza, 30, went on trial this week accused of strangling 34-year-old Lorena Mazzeo to death inside her apartment on the island of Gran Canaria in 2016.
Prosecutors claim the pair knew each other and that Cabeza strangled Mazzeo to death so 'she wouldn't laugh at him any more'.
Cabeza's lawyers say she was a prostitute who asked him to strangle her with a shower hose as part of a sadomasochistic game that ended with her accidental death.

Army officer Felix Daza Cabeza, 30, admits killing her but claims she asked to be strangled as part of a sadomasochistic sex game that ended with her accidental death
If convicted, Cabeza faces up to 21 years behind bars. His lawyers are asking for him to be acquitted.
Mazzeo, who was originally from Argentina, was found dead in the bathtub of her apartment with the shower hose around her neck in October 2016.
Police launched an investigation and discovered that several items - including 50 euros in cash, two mobiles and an iPad mini - were missing.
The router and phone lines into the house had also been cut and the property had been locked, local outlet La Provincia reports.
Cabeza was arrested two months later and admitted killing Mazzeo, but claimed it was an accident.
Brought to court this week, he claimed that he had never met Mazzeo before the evening in question.
Asked why his number appeared in her phone, he said it was because he was a frequent user of prostitutes.

Prosecutors are asking for 21 years in jail for Cabeza - 20 for the murder, and 18 months for theft - while his lawyers argue he should be acquitted

Cabeza claims that Mazzeo was a prostitute and that he had not met her before the night in question. Her family say she was a journalist
Her relatives say she was a journalist.
Quizzed over why he took items from Mazzeo's apartment, Cabeza admitted to being a cocaine user and said he sold the valuables for drugs.
He also admitted to taking lingerie and condoms because he was 'scared' of being discovered and they had his DNA on them.
Prosecutors say they will call a witness who will testify that Cabeza once confided that he planned to kill Mazzeo because she mocked him.
'I killed her because I wanted to, she was a b*** and she will not laugh anymore about me,' the witness claims Cabeza said.
Prosecutors are asking for a sentence of 20 years in jail for murder, and an additional 18 months for theft.
They are also asking for 40,000 euros (£34,500) in compensation for each of Lorena's parents and 20,000 euros (£17,300) for her sister.
The trial is ongoing.
