Cancel leaving certificates, BMC tells Dahisar school

MUMBAI: The BMC's education department on Tuesday issued a showcause notice to Rustomjee Troopers School in Dahisar to submit a report justifying the fee hike within seven days and to cancel the leaving certificates sent to over 30 students.
"Until further orders from this department, the school must not issue leaving certificate to any students or take any other action. Leaving certificates already issued to students must be cancelled and they must be admitted back to school," said the letter.
Members of the BMC education committee, Sainath Durge and Sheetal Mhatre, demanded the civic body initiate action against the school for sending leaving certificates in spite of directives to not do so from the education minister, Vinod Tawde, and education department officials. The parents' group has also written to the BMC education officer, Mahesh Palkar, in this regard. School authorities maintained they were going by the rulebook.
