Coimbatore: The city police are on lookout for a Kerala-based businesswoman, who cheated a coconut farmer of Rs 2.36lakh.
The accused was identified as Rishi Thomas of Palakkad. “The victim, U Sekar, a coconut farmer from Thanjavur, often visits the city to sell coconuts. He had got a call from the accused in September 2018, asking him to send eight tonnes of coconuts to her office in Palakkad. She agreed to pay after the delivery. The farmer sent the consignment without even getting an advance. She sent a cheque to the farmer. But till date, the amount was not credited,” a police officer said.
After his calls went unanswered, the farmer visited her office in Palakkad a few days ago and found it closed.
