In yet another goof-up, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) is forcing the students who passed the examination and prefer reverification, to pay for all the subjects rather than just the subject they wish to check.
Parents were aghast to see that the website is forcing them to pay ₹3,600 for all the six subjects of that particular year even if they want to re-verify just one subject.
Host of complaints
A senior journalist, Ashok Tankashala, who faced the problem, said the BIE should immediately rectify the mistake, and reduce the financial and emotional pain on the students. “I faced the problem for my child and a few friends of mine also complained on the same issue,” Mr. Ashok said. BIE officials, on condition of anonymity, admit that it was a problem due to some software issues and clarified that students should pay only for the papers they wish to re-verify and not all. Luckily, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has given some breather to the parents and students who failed and wanted re-verification by waiving off the ₹ 600 fee.
Eight centres
Meanwhile, the BIE announced that it has arranged eight centres in the city and nearby districts for reverification and recounting of marks. The exercise will be carried out at Mahabubia Junior College; Government Junior College, Kacheguda; DEO office, Nampally; MAM Junior College, Nampally; Falaknuma Government junior college for boys; Government junior College, Hayathnagar; Government junior College, Shamshabad; Government junior College, Kukatpally; and DEO office in Medchal. Candidates have to apply for reverification and recounting online on ‘www.bie.telangana.gov.in.’ The last date for applying is April 27.
