Woman, 35, dies after falling into a commercial meat grinder at a Pennsylvania storage warehouse, sparking tributes from shocked co-workers and family

A woman was killed Monday morning after she fell inside a commercial meat grinder at a Pennsylvania plant. 

Jill Greninger fell into the grinder while operating it at Economy Locker Storage Co around 11.40am, officials said. 

Lycoming County Coroner Charles E. Kiessling Jr said the woman had been standing on a set of stairs that was on wheels when she fell.

Greninger was described by friends as being 'an amazing person' who 'touched so many lives'

Kiessling told the Williamsport Sun-Gazette that no one witnessed the accident and it's unclear if the woman was 'reaching for something in the grinder, which was about 6 feet off the ground'.

Another employee told officials that they heard a noise and found the woman's body in the grinder. 

The worker immediately called first responders, but Greninger was already dead by the time they arrived to the scene. 

According to the Sun-Gazette, firefighters worked for nearly 45 minutes disassembling the machine in order to recover her body. 

'This was a horrible accident,' Kiessling said.

Greninger was described by friends as 'an amazing person' who 'touched so many lives'. 

Officials from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration were also on the scene and are leading the investigating into the accident. 

The Economy Locker Storage Company, which specializes in the sale of meat, is located at 324 Worthington Lane. 

According to the company's website, the processing plant has been in business since the early 1900s. 

Greninger's death is the first reported at the Economy Locker Storage Company.
