Couple Arrested After Authorities Discover They Kept Their Toddlers in Cages Bolted to Wall

A couple has been arrested for allegedly placing their twin toddlers in cages, which were bolted to a wall.????Ramon Albert Zendejas and his girlfriend, Mercadies Irene Williams, were taken into custody in Modoc County in Northern California… where deputies were serving a search warrant for illegal firearm possession.????That’s when they found the two boys, younger than 2 years old, in stacked crates the sheriff’s office compared to dog crates.????During the search, Sheriff Tex Dowdy also found three firearms, ammunition, evidence of a butane honey oil lab and suspected methamphetamine.????Dowdy told KRCR deputies were unaware the children were living there -- and thinks they were locked up to keep them away from the weapons and alleged drugs.????The pair, both 25 years old, have been charged with being a prohibited person in possession of firearms and ammunition, as well as child endangerment.????Zendejas is facing additional charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, along with manufacturing a controlled substance.????Both were held on $10,000 bail.
