In view of the Dhandumariyamman Temple festival related fire pot procession by devotees, the city police have announced changes in the traffic pattern on Wednesday (April 24) from 6 a.m. to noon.
The procession will start from Koniamman Temple near Town Hall and pass through Oppannakara Street, Lingappa Chetty Street, Flower Market, Syrian Church Road, Brooke Bond Road (Krishnaswamy Road), Somasundara Mill Road, Dr.Nanjappa Road and take the underpass of Avinashi Flyover to reach the temple.
Therefore, vehicles from Pollachi Road and Palakkad Road should take the Valankulam bypass to reach Sungam and proceed to respective destinations or take the Perur by pass road to proceed further. These vehicles should not enter Oppanakkara Street.
Vehicles from Mettuppalayam Road and Thadagam Road that are bound for Palakkad Road or Pollachi Road should go through Ponniahrajapuram, Chokkampudur, Shivalaya Theatre and Perur bypass to reach Ukkadam or to proceed to areas further.
Vehicles coming from Perur Road towards the city should take the Shivalaya Theatre Junction, Chokkampudur, Ponniahrajapuram and Gandhipark to reach Thadagam Road or take the Perur bypass to reach Ukkadam or proceed further.
Vehicles from Avinashi Road flyover to Ukkadam should reach Anna Statue Junction or Uppilipalayam JM Bakery junction and turn left and proceed towards Huzur Road, Race Course or Railway Station to reach Tiruchi Road.
Heavy vehicles on Tiruchi Road, which head to Ukkadam through Town Hall, should take a left ahead of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and take the Classic Tower stretch on Valankulam to reach Ukkadam or Sungam bypass. Similarly, light motor vehicles could go up to Lanka Corner to take the Vincent Road to proceed further. Lorries cannot enter Avinashi Road and other areas the procession would pass through, till the festival ends.
