Commuter chaos unfolded on Wednesday afternoon as peak-hour ferries between Sydney's Circular Quay and Manly were halted.
NSW Police are investigating a reported 'bomb threat' at Manly wharf, stopping all services between the stops and locking down the terminal.
Hundreds of people were ushered out of the terminal by wharf workers and police as they began to search the area.

Services have been cancelled since officers received the reports of the threat at 5pm, throwing hundreds of Sydney commuters into chaos.
A NSW Police spokeswoman confirmed a threat had been made and police were 'taking it seriously', but couldn't give any more details.
Witnesses at the scene have taken to Twitter to say the ferry remained docked at the wharf as police ushered people away.
Another commuter said she was told the halt was caused by a 'bomb threat' on board the Narrabeen ferry that remained docked at the wharf.
Police remain at Manly terminal 'doing due diligence', The Sydney Morning Herald reported.
Officers searched the ferry as fire engines, specialist ambulance teams and unmarked police cars remain outside the terminal.

Services bound for Many from Circular Quay were stopped mid-way through their route and forced to turn back.
Commuters are being told to delay their trip and to allow lots of extra travel time as replacement buses are organised for the route.
It is not yet known when ferry services will continue to run, but the replacement buses will continue until the wharf is opened to the public.
