Electrician arrested for abusing cops

Coimbatore: The city police on Wednesday arrested a 40-year-old man, who allegedly called the police control room and several police stations in the city, to abuse police officers.
The accused was identified as Vel Kumar, a resident of Kavundampalayam and an electrician by profession.
According to police, Kumar used to call the police control room and several other police stations including Saibaba Colony police station during night in an inebriated state and verbally abuse police officers and criticize the investigations pertaining to the Pollachi sexual assault and blackmailing case and rape and murder of a seven-year-old girl near Thudiyalur.

After receiving several such calls, police tracked down the caller by tracing his mobile phone and arrested him on Wednesday. The accused has confessed to the crime, sources said.
Saibaba Colony police have registered an FIR under multiple sections including preventing government officials from doing duty and threatening to murder.
